Artwork Requirements

If you are providing the artwork to us:

Did you know that an incorrectly set up file is the #1 reason for bad printing?  To maintain our top-quality printing, we require the cooperation of the customer to prepare the file correctly for print.

File Requirements

Before sending us your file for print, please make sure your file meets the following requirements.

Vector Artwork (preferred)

All critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) should be sent in Vector format.  If you don’t have vector artwork, we will be happy to redraw your art for a fee.  You will receive a quote on Artwork Drawing for your “approval” prior to beginning the artwork.

Resolution

300 dpi resolution or higher. Avoid taking low-resolution pictures from the web because they are usually 72 dpi or lower.

Fonts

Convert your fonts to objects to avoid font changes from computer to computer.
Font size should be 8 points or more for people to read it on print.  If we are recreating your artwork into vector format, please provide us the font name and/or the font file (*.ttf or *.otf).

Colors & Outlines (if providing print-ready artwork)

For full-color print jobs, convert all CMYK and Pantone spot colors to RGB color mode.
For black and white print jobs, use RGB.
For 1- or 2-color jobs, use Pantone spot colors.
For small or precise black text, use "standard black."
For black backgrounds and large areas of black, use "rich black."

Please convert all outlines to objects.  No lines should be thinner than 1 point

File Format

Whenever possible, please provide the original or native artwork file. We accept a wide range of file formats including .CDR, .AI, .EPS, .PDF, .PNG, .PSD, .INDD, .JPG and .TIF.

PDF files are commonly used for sharing artwork, but saving or exporting a file as a PDF does not necessarily make the artwork vector. A PDF may contain vector artwork, bitmap images or a combination of both. The quality of the original artwork still matters.

We highly discourage submitting Microsoft files such as Word, Publisher, or PowerPoint, because their fonts and layouts tend to change across computers. If you have a Microsoft file, please convert it to PDF to help preserve the fonts and layout.

Canva Artwork:

Canva files can contain a combination of vector and bitmap elements. Although lettering is often vector-based, images, clipart and other design elements may be bitmap and may not be suitable for production or enlargement.

If your artwork was created in Canva, please provide the highest-quality PDF available. In some cases, we may also request access to the original Canva design so we can review or adjust individual elements. Please be aware that some Canva artwork may still require redrawing, replacement or other preparation before it can be used for production.

AI-Generated Artwork:

Artwork created with AI image generators can be a great starting point for a custom design, but AI-generated images are not always ready for production. Images may contain distorted or inconsistent details, irregular edges, stray marks, incorrect lettering or other artifacts that may not be obvious until the artwork is enlarged or prepared for production.

We will review AI-generated artwork to determine whether it is suitable for the intended production method. Depending on the design, some artwork may require cleanup, redrawing, background removal, font substitution or other preparation before it can be used.

If you're unsure whether your AI-generated artwork will work, send us the highest-quality original image available.  Whenever possible, create the design as close as possible to the size it will be produced.

We'll review it and let you know if any additional artwork preparation is needed.

Please make sure you have permission to use any artwork, logos, trademarks, characters, photographs or other protected content included in your design. AI-generated artwork does not eliminate copyright, trademark or other usage-right requirements.
